You see them on our streets

These refugee kids residing in Pakistan... with no shelter and no food... you see them on the streets of Pakistan - they sleep there, they work there.

These Afghan boys gather litter from the streets and dumps, carry heavy loads on their backs for a mere 10 or 20 rupees per day while a beggar earns ten times of this amount. Yet they choose this life of labor instead of beggary.

At other times you see them around major bazaars, offering to carry your shopping bags. Sometimes they don't even ask for money in return of their service because they can't speak our language. We see people giving their money to professional beggars on a routine basis... yet sadly, we don't see many people reaching out to these little boys who somehow still have their self-respect intact enough to not resort to beggary. It is better to pay them generously for their services rather than giving money to beggars
